Cicada Leather Company products are hand-crafted in America using the highest quality full grain leathers. The cowhides are tanned in an American tannery which is nearly one and half centuries old. The leathers are from North American steer and are tanned using organic matters without harmful chemicals.
The products are cut, sewn, and finished using time honored methods. No machines are used- only human powered tools which have been used by leathersmiths for hundreds of years. Each item is handsewn using traditional awls and specially waxed heavy thread. This creates a more durable and longer lasting product.
Cicada Leather Company is proudly made in West Philadelphia, USA. We believe in the power of buying American-made. As a result, we make an effort to use American-made supplies in our products.
To make the best possible product, we use the best possible leather. That leather is full gain leather tanned in the States. The well-known tannery from which our leather comes is over a century old. Like many of the products created from their leather, the tannery has been passed from generation to generation.
Continuing with our desire to do our part in boosting the American economy while making a fabulous product, we use threads made in Maine.
Before we send you your products, we condition and oil them. This preserves, conditions, and protects the leather. Plus it smell great. The conditioners we use are all natural (no petroleum, no dyes, no perfumes, no artificial ingredients). Our conditioners come from the Northwest.
Many of the tools used to create our products  are hand-crafted in America too. Made by talented leathersmiths, these tools are superior and thus make a superior product.
